~ Fishing in "Takla Town" ~

Look at that technique!

Fishin' in true Takla style!

Just hanging out on the beach, notice Charley's swing and the medic sleeping on the quad.

Me and Sandy relaxing. One of the few times I get the chance to put my feet up.
Here we are just hanging out at 5 Mile Bay, about 5 miles from the house. It was the first time I'd been there since we've been in Takla. Lennah had gone fishing with Daddy the weekend before and had a great time. Right behind us is our new quad - I had a fantastic time riding back with Lennah all by ourselves. It was pretty special for me.

~ Gone Ice-Fishin' ~

I love this action shot! Using the chainsaw to cut the hole in 24" of ice.

Checking out the "catch of the day". The dogs wouldn't normally have gone with the boys, but they got out of the compound and chased the snowmobiles about 3km down the lake.

Fresh water ling cod - Mmmmm, yummy. We made cod nuggets out of this ugly guy! Too bad he was the only catch Nathan made all winter long.

Sean, kissing the cod. Nathan neglected to tell him that he wasn't in Newfoundland and there wasn't any Screech to drink.

To give a little perspective on just how deep that hole actually was.

So, I'm playing "catch up" with some of our activities here in Takla. Rest assured that there is NO more snow here. These photos are from the end of February.

~ Shenanigans ~

What a curious miss! Good thing those weren't the clean towels.

~

Nathan thinks Charley's already plotting her takeover of the world.

This is the "don't mess with me" face.

Apparently, my pink camo version of this rifle is on it's way. 'Cause you know how much I NEED a semi-auto .22cal LR! At least that's what Nathan is trying to convince me of.

~

"What am I supposed to do with these things?"

Commanding her audience - might be more effective if she didn't have on huge rubber gloves!

~

Fast asleep and still a death grip on the Tupperware tea set. Notice Nathan's "play off mustache"?

~ Mud Pies ~

April 4th. This is how the spring break up looked. Pretty ugly and wet! I should note that last year when I left in May to go to Surrey to await Charley's arrival there was still piles of snow all over our compound and the sides of the road. As a matter of fact, it didn't all melt until June when Nathan joined me.

Lennah still managed to have lots of fun with her "lawn power".

Still enough snow to pull Charley around on the sled - sort of. LOL

~

Nathan still hoping to plow some snow with the new quad. 10 days after the first photos and the snow is rapidly melting.

But, it's still wet enough for making Mud Pies!
I even managed to get in on the fun a little.

~ McBride, BC ~

Welcome to McBride

It's official. Our next post is McBride, BC. Please click on the link to read more about McBride.

~
Saint Patrick's Church, McBride, BC
So, we're excited. We're moving to McBride! Nathan got his transfer papers April 2nd and technically he has 90 days to "report to duty". We still don't know all the details about the move, i.e. When!, but we know Where. We've already seen the force housing, read "HOUSE" not a trailer. Yipee! It's pretty much just the When that we're waiting for.

I'm excited for us and especially the girls. You don't realize how isolated you are until you are isolated like we are. All the preparing in the world couldn't have prepared us for Takla. Lennah and Charley will really benefit from a Rec Centre and some playdates. I'm looking forward to meeting some new Moms like me, taking a "stitch and bitch" class (knitting and crocheting at the community centre), and enrolling Lennah in preschool.

We have to buy appliances; a fridge, stove and my personal favourite: a NEW washer/dryer!!! Oh, happy day when I get to use my new front-loading washer/dryer that I will be purchasing. I know, I know, I'm sick! But, if you know me at all, you'll know just how much I love laundry. Sure doesn't take much to make me happy! We'll also be getting that swing set that I wanted to get the girls last summer for our backyard. (Birthday gift ideas anyone ...)

So, back to McBride. It's a small town, another 3 man detachment. But, there's amenities there that we don't have here in Takla. We're only a little over 2 hours from Prince George, with NO logging road. Totally doable for me to do a day trip into town for shopping. And best of all, we're only 4 1/2 hours to Kamloops, which means we're 8 hours to home! Not the marathon 1200kms to Surrey that we've become accustomed to. We will be able to make the trip in a day without killing ourselves and torturing the kids in their carseats for 18 hours.
So, we should be there June or July. Look forward to lots of pics of our new digs!

~ The Aquarium ~

A little belated, here are our pictures from Lennah and Charley's first trip to the Vancouver Aquarium in February.

~

Checking out the otter. Lennah thought he looked like a doggie. She kept calling him "Dawson".

Charley, just checking things out.

I think the beluga's were one of the biggest hits for the kids. It was so serene sitting there underwater. I could have watched them for hours.

This was just the coolest thing ever. This dolphin could see Dylan through the glass, he kept swimming back and forth to him. It was amazing.

Someone was getting a little tired and cranky.

All better now.

Really better now, until Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let her keep all the belugas in the gift shop.

Thank you to the Murphy's for a wonderful afternoon. We had a lot of fun.
