~ Happy 1st Birthday Charley ~

The Birthday Girl showing off the last of the crab crawl.

Yummy spaghetti, birthday dinner.

I'm ready for that cake now!

She's getting that "Fox amble" down pat - just like her Daddy. Charley's walking up a storm, she's getting around awfully quick now. In just under two weeks she went from furniture cruising to almost running! She's also talking a little bit. She says Daddy, doggie, duckie, Uh oh, Hello and sometimes Mama.

Showing off her party dress. I bought this dress for Lennah's birthday and unfortunately she didn't get much of a chance to wear it as she wasn't walking and kept getting tangled up in it. I couldn't wait to put it on Charley as soon as I knew we had another girl!

The big sister putting on a puppet show.

Here it is! My second cake - that I made. I tried making an angel food cake and I didn't realize that it wasn't fully cooked through when I pulled it out of the oven, so it collapsed - raw inside. Oh well, carrot cake it was and it turned out great!

The girls certainly seemed to enjoy it. Lennah even lapped up her plate!

We celebrated Charley's first birthday with our Takla Family. Sandy and Steve were there with Sandy's parents showing up for a visit all the way from Chilliwack! We even got on the webcam to show off Charley's walking skills to Nana and Nona. And we spoke to Grandma and Auntie Sheri by telephone. We're looking forward to getting together with our friends when we get down to the coast at the end of the month.

~ Garden Cart ~

ME, assembling the garden cart.

First test run.

I think it's a hit.

The girls are definitely having fun.

Just some more photos of our beautiful girls.

In lieu of the traditional Toys R Us plastic wagons, we've opted to "go hard or go home" and bought the Garden Cart. This baby has fold down sides, 10" pneumatic tires, a removable canvas liner and can hold 800LBS!!! Who needs a crappy plastic wagon? Not us! I fully intend to tow these two kiddies around McBride in their new wagon.

~ Fishing in "Takla Town" ~

Look at that technique!

Fishin' in true Takla style!

Just hanging out on the beach, notice Charley's swing and the medic sleeping on the quad.

Me and Sandy relaxing. One of the few times I get the chance to put my feet up.
Here we are just hanging out at 5 Mile Bay, about 5 miles from the house. It was the first time I'd been there since we've been in Takla. Lennah had gone fishing with Daddy the weekend before and had a great time. Right behind us is our new quad - I had a fantastic time riding back with Lennah all by ourselves. It was pretty special for me.

~ Gone Ice-Fishin' ~

I love this action shot! Using the chainsaw to cut the hole in 24" of ice.

Checking out the "catch of the day". The dogs wouldn't normally have gone with the boys, but they got out of the compound and chased the snowmobiles about 3km down the lake.

Fresh water ling cod - Mmmmm, yummy. We made cod nuggets out of this ugly guy! Too bad he was the only catch Nathan made all winter long.

Sean, kissing the cod. Nathan neglected to tell him that he wasn't in Newfoundland and there wasn't any Screech to drink.

To give a little perspective on just how deep that hole actually was.

So, I'm playing "catch up" with some of our activities here in Takla. Rest assured that there is NO more snow here. These photos are from the end of February.

~ Mud Pies ~

April 4th. This is how the spring break up looked. Pretty ugly and wet! I should note that last year when I left in May to go to Surrey to await Charley's arrival there was still piles of snow all over our compound and the sides of the road. As a matter of fact, it didn't all melt until June when Nathan joined me.

Lennah still managed to have lots of fun with her "lawn power".

Still enough snow to pull Charley around on the sled - sort of. LOL

~

Nathan still hoping to plow some snow with the new quad. 10 days after the first photos and the snow is rapidly melting.

But, it's still wet enough for making Mud Pies!
I even managed to get in on the fun a little.

~ Snow Baby ~

I took the girls for a walk the other day and even though the weather was cold and windy, Charley was no match for it.

I think she's adjusted well to life in the North.

Lennah towing around our little sleeping beauty.
