~ McBride, BC ~

Welcome to McBride

It's official. Our next post is McBride, BC. Please click on the link to read more about McBride.

Saint Patrick's Church, McBride, BC
So, we're excited. We're moving to McBride! Nathan got his transfer papers April 2nd and technically he has 90 days to "report to duty". We still don't know all the details about the move, i.e. When!, but we know Where. We've already seen the force housing, read "HOUSE" not a trailer. Yipee! It's pretty much just the When that we're waiting for.

I'm excited for us and especially the girls. You don't realize how isolated you are until you are isolated like we are. All the preparing in the world couldn't have prepared us for Takla. Lennah and Charley will really benefit from a Rec Centre and some playdates. I'm looking forward to meeting some new Moms like me, taking a "stitch and bitch" class (knitting and crocheting at the community centre), and enrolling Lennah in preschool.

We have to buy appliances; a fridge, stove and my personal favourite: a NEW washer/dryer!!! Oh, happy day when I get to use my new front-loading washer/dryer that I will be purchasing. I know, I know, I'm sick! But, if you know me at all, you'll know just how much I love laundry. Sure doesn't take much to make me happy! We'll also be getting that swing set that I wanted to get the girls last summer for our backyard. (Birthday gift ideas anyone ...)

So, back to McBride. It's a small town, another 3 man detachment. But, there's amenities there that we don't have here in Takla. We're only a little over 2 hours from Prince George, with NO logging road. Totally doable for me to do a day trip into town for shopping. And best of all, we're only 4 1/2 hours to Kamloops, which means we're 8 hours to home! Not the marathon 1200kms to Surrey that we've become accustomed to. We will be able to make the trip in a day without killing ourselves and torturing the kids in their carseats for 18 hours.
So, we should be there June or July. Look forward to lots of pics of our new digs!

~ The Aquarium ~

A little belated, here are our pictures from Lennah and Charley's first trip to the Vancouver Aquarium in February.

~

Checking out the otter. Lennah thought he looked like a doggie. She kept calling him "Dawson".

Charley, just checking things out.

I think the beluga's were one of the biggest hits for the kids. It was so serene sitting there underwater. I could have watched them for hours.

This was just the coolest thing ever. This dolphin could see Dylan through the glass, he kept swimming back and forth to him. It was amazing.

Someone was getting a little tired and cranky.

All better now.

Really better now, until Mommy and Daddy wouldn't let her keep all the belugas in the gift shop.

Thank you to the Murphy's for a wonderful afternoon. We had a lot of fun.

~ Snow Baby ~

I took the girls for a walk the other day and even though the weather was cold and windy, Charley was no match for it.

I think she's adjusted well to life in the North.

Lennah towing around our little sleeping beauty.

~ Crawling - an Update ~

Just a little update on Charley's progress. With barely a week of crawling, our little girl has already progressed to a bum scoot. I think between the linoleum floor and just wanting to get around faster, Charley has decided to bum scoot. And she's gotten quite proficient at it!

This one is a little long, but I think there's some "noisy people" who'll get a kick out of it! You can certainly see the difference 4 days make. This last video is a little older than the first two and it's very apparent how much better Charley's gotten at the "Bumscootin' Boogie".

~

As well, she's been babbling for some time now, but not really saying much. Then, about four days ago she started saying "Dada" like it was going out of style. I'm patiently waiting for "Mama". She still hasn't called Nathan Dada yet! So, there's still time -Lennah called me Mama first.

~ Our Girls ~

We finally ordered Charley's birth announcements and here is the finished product. Some have been handed out already and the others are in the mail. What a precious little girl we are so proud to call our own.

Here's a couple of comparisons between Lennah and Charley I wanted to include.

I just love these shots of Nathan with the girls - they should be called "A Father's Love". It's so apparent how much he adores them.

~ Crawling ~

Well it's official - my little girl is crawling. Charley's been seriously cruising around the last couple of days and Momma's not too happy! LOL I'm joking, I wasn't prepared for her to be so mobile so quickly though. Lennah was much more content to sit and play in one spot until she started to bum scoot much closer to her first birthday. So far, so good, we've had no casualties yet. Unless you count the screams when Lennah takes away her toys! Charley seems happy enough to crawl to Mommy, Lennah or her toys and not the kitchen cupboards - yet!

I just had to share a couple shots of my beautiful girls.

~ Tool Time ~

Just this afternoon, Nathan and Lennah installed a new baby gate. I think if Lennah had known what she was actually helping to build, she wouldn't have been so eager to help Daddy. But, what a great helper she was - and she only lost one screw! She hammered, measured and drilled. As you can see, when she figured out what it was all for, she wasn't too pleased. Charley on the other hand, hasn't figured out the gravity of the situation - wait until she really starts crawling around!
